Carolyn Geiger passed away at her home in Waldport, OR October 1, 2016, following a rapid decline from cancer. She died 17 days before her 80th birthday and 3 days before the 48th anniversary of her marriage to Jeffrey Geiger. In addition, she is survived by daughters Cheryl—of Derry, NH and Renae Job and Elaine Hungerford, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Her sister Linda preceded her in death. Sister Patricia Johnson and brother David Bowles survived.

Carolyn was born in Seattle in 1936 to Joseph Ross Bowles and Patricia Ann Cooper. She spent her early life in Toledo, and Butte Falls, OR. Recipient of the Bishop Dagwell Cup, Carolyn graduated from St. Helens Hall (now Oregon Episcopal School) in Portland. She raised her three daughters in Myrtle Creek, Eugene, Portland, OR and New Braunfels, TX. Carolyn and husband Jeffrey lived also in New Hampshire, Washington, DC and on the central Oregon coast. Carolyn developed her skills in Eugene as a high fashion display artist and manager; she was the successful owner of an antique business in Maryland and New Hampshire. She performed wonderful work counseling clients and their families in the human services field in Boston and Northern Virginia, serving on the Human Rights Committee of No. Virginia in the early 1990’s.

Carolyn and Jeffrey lived a 50 year love affair. They shared a deep love for one another, and shared virtually all interests—including antiques, history, reading, travel, visiting historic sites and museums, nature, music. Carolyn was a wonderfully spiritual and intuitive, loving wife and mother. She was profoundly appreciative of her friends and family.

Carolyn’s ashes will be interred with the remains of her baby sister, Judith Natalie Bowles, who died in 1941 (as will those of husband Jeffrey) at Eureka Cemetery in Newport, OR.
