Doug Sutherland was born in Des Moines Iowa to Loraine and Leemoine Sutherland. He was the youngest of 6 siblings. The family eventually made it to the Oregon Coast where they spent many years enjoying all that this area has to offer and starting families of their own. Doug settled in Toledo with his first wife Jean and they raised their kids. He married his second wife Sandi in 1992 and they moved out to Logsden to live in “the country”. Doug loved the wildlife that frequented his property.

Doug worked for many years as part of the paving crew for Road and Driveway and greatly enjoyed the work: he moved on later to work for and retire from Georgia Pacific Paper Mill. He was an outstanding father, brother, son, neighbor, and husband. He loved to spend time in the outdoors working in his garden, fishing and hunting to provide for his family, camping, mushroom picking or just taking long drives to enjoy the scenery. It was common to see him riding his lawn mower down the street to take care of all of his neighbor’s yards, his beloved dogs were usually close behind.

He was preceded in death by: Loraine and Lee (parents), Janice (sister), Jim (brother), Dave (twin brother), Dan (brother), and nephews Danny and David.
He is survived by his oldest brother Butch; his wife Sandi; his four children: Jeff Sumner, Connie Lyon, Billy Sutherland, Linda Sutherland; and 12 grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at Toledo Eagles Hall on April 8th from 1pm to 5pm. All friends and family are welcome to join this potluck luncheon.
