Phillip Fisher, age 74, of Lincoln City, passed away from cancer on October 1, 2015.  He was at home in the loving care of his family. Phillip was born December 26, 1940 in Oakland, California.  He was the youngest of five children of Ray and Lila Fisher.

He grew up in Sellwood, Oregon and attended Cleveland High School in Portland.  Phillip enlisted in the US Navy at age 17.  He served from 1958 to 1961 in California, Hawaii, and Japan.  In 1968 he married Kathy Tomjack. Together they raised their three children in Portland and Salem, Oregon.

Phillip retired in 1996 after 25 years as a Correctional Sergeant at the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem, Oregon.  He loved retirement on the Oregon Coast.

He was a born collector and had several massive collections throughout the years. He collected comic books as a child and True Detective magazines as a teen.  As an adult his collections included WWII memorabilia, sports cards, and US Civil War.  His final collection was hundreds of WWI German prayer cards that he bought and sold on the internet.

He also liked to travel and enjoyed most sports. He was an original Trail Blazer fan from the 1970's. He listened to their games on the radio before they were televised.  He trained in Judo while stationed in Japan and earned his brown belt before returning to the States.  He was a devoted U of O football fan and reminisced about how fast he was as a teen when he played JV football at Cleveland High School.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy, brother Jack Fisher, children Steven Fisher, Valorie Fisher Lang, and  Christina Fisher Gushard, four granddaughters, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter.

Services and burial will be held at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon on Thursday October 8th at 1:30 pm.  Following the service there will be a memorial lunch at Monarch Hotel and  Convention Center for friends and family.
