Betty Hay-Sinclair
On Tuesday, September 17, 2019, Betty Hay-Sinclair, loving mother of four children, passed away at her home at the age of 83. Betty was born on August 16, 1936 in Abington, PA to Leonard (Sr.) and Dorothy (Horton) Boccardo.
In 1956, she married William R. Hay, Jr. and together they raised four sons; Benjamin, Christopher, Daniel, and Jonathan, in Pennsylvania, Hawaii, and Missouri. She relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 1984 where she later married Edward Sinclair. She became a resident of Newport, OR in 1994.
Betty had a passion for the Oregon coast and enjoyed searching for agates, whale watching, and exploring lighthouses. She was an avid crafter and for many years and ran a business producing hand-made, collectible miniatures. Betty was also an accomplished painter in the American Primitive style and her work has been displayed in the Oregon Coast Aquarium. Her hobbies included gardening, photography and going to yard sales.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Leonard (2005), her mother Dorothy (1990), her sister Doris (2008) and her husbands, William (1994), Jack Scroggins (2017), and Edward (2010). She is survived by her brother Leonard, her four sons, three daughters-in-law, and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Bateman's Funeral Home in Newport, OR on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 2 p.m.
