Tim Bushnell passed away at home unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. Tim was born on April 2, 1963 to Daniel Robert Bushnell and Virginia Lee (Eubanks) Bushnell in Stockton, California. He was the youngest of their four children.
Tim started his childhood in Stockton, but his family moved often while he was growing up. He lived a great number of years in Maui, Hawaii and the Seattle area in Washington before coming back to Stockton as a teenager. His father introduced Tim to drag cars and his love affair with cars began. He started working as a mechanic and built numerous race cars and drag trucks. He met his wife Christina in 1994.
Tim and Christina moved to Newport on a whim in 1995 and were married at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. The happiest day of Tim’s life was the birth of their son, Carson. Tim was a devoted family man. He enjoyed spending time with his son building model cars, camping, and watching him play basketball. Tim enjoyed all thing cars and loved his job as owner of McDowell’s Automotive. He was happy to have a great friend and trust in his Shop Manager Rick Robbins who will continue to help the customers of McDowell’s Automotive.
Tim is survived by his loving wife, Christina; his son, Carson; his mother, Virginia Atwater (Barry) of Roseburg, Oregon; and his brother, Christopher (Shannon) of Redding, California. He was loved and cherished by his in-laws Hugh and Candy Smith of Siletz. He married into a large family of cousins and nephews and nieces who enjoyed his friendship and sense of humor. He was grateful to have his “bonus” sons Tanner, Xander, Robert and Kenneth. He is also survived by all his many clients whom he considered family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Daniel, his brother Steven Bushnell, his sister Nancy Bushnell, all of Stockton, California.
His memorial service will be Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Bateman Funeral Home in Newport, Oregon at 1 PM.
Nothing was more important to Tim than Carson’s education. To honor Tim’s dream to see his son graduate from college, a trust fund has been established for Carson in lieu of flowers. Donations can be made to Carson T Bushnell Fund at Columbia Bank.
