Tommy Town Obituary

Tommy James Town (Tom) died peacefully at home in Yachats, Oregon at the age of 49 on April 28, 2018 at 7:15 pm from cancer. He had 3 separate bouts of cancer and each was a different type.  Tom was born on November 5, 1968 to Rosemary Marler in Lewiston, Idaho.  He graduated from Lewiston High School, moved to Boardman, Oregon and worked as a millwright at the potato plants.

Tom met Phyllis Wetzel Harris in Boardman and went to work for her in the firewood profession in Monument, Oregon in 1993.  Tom always wanted a family and he fell in love with Decemia, A.J., Katherine, and Donna and asked Phyllis to marry him.  Tom and Phyllis were married on October 8, 1994 in Boardman, Oregon.  They moved to Ione, Oregon and worked on Krebs Ranch until Tom went on a Deep Sea Fishing Boat in Alaska for a couple of months.  Tom returned to Boardman and went to work with his dad Mike Town for Baker Hay.

Tom and Phyllis moved to Irrigon, Oregon and took guardianship of Scott and Jordan in September of 1997.  In 2000 Tom, Phyllis, and all six of their kids moved to Echo, Oregon for a year or so and then moved to Hermiston, Oregon.  While living in Hermiston, Tom volunteered with Special Olympics and enjoyed his time spent with all the athletes and coaches.  In May of 2009 the family moved to Waldport, Oregon to live, and in May of 2015 they moved to Yachats, Oregon.

Tom taught his children to fish, hunt, camp, and other things important to life. He enjoyed music and played the guitar. He was a person who talked to everyone and enjoyed life.  In the last few years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his kids and friends.  His favorite saying to the kids was "Go to work, you will feel better".

Tom was predeceased by his dad Mike Town, his Grandma Mary Lynn and Grandpa Lloyd.  He is survived by his wife Phyllis of Yachats; his mom Rosemary of Waldport; his children Decimia of Yachats, A.J. Town and fiancée Ashleigh of Waldport, Katherine Harris and fiancée Cory of Hermiston, Donna Washington and boyfriend Chris of Umatilla, Scott of Yachats and Jordan of Yachats; his Grandchildren Christopher Washington, Tommy Town, Ella King, and Pyper Robinson; his brother Paul Town and Rhiannon of South Dakota, and his sister Tammy Hubbard and Danny of Oregon.
