Gerald "Jerry" Cyphert

Jerry Cyphert was born April 10, 1937 to William Earl and Irene Cyphert in Toledo, Oregon and raised in Springfield, OR where he graduated high school in 1955. He attended Willamette University. Jerry was married to Lorraine Agnes Henderson in 1959, they had 3 children. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, William Samuel Cyphert and Gerald Mark Cyphert. Jerry married Cheryl Anita McDonald in 1972, they had 2 children. His hobbies included softball with the Oregon State League until he was 40, fishing, bird hunting and golfing, as well as spending time at his coast property. When he retired as the proud owner of a local business, he moved to Newport to be near the ocean he loved. He spent as much time as he could with his grandchildren and loved attending their sporting events. Jerry passed away on March 12, 2016 in his home with his longtime companion Phyllis Hoover by his side. He was 78 years old. He is survived by his brother James Sidney Cyphert; three children: Christine Marie Huck, Charles Gordon Cyphert and Bradley Duncan Cyphert; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
