I had the good fortune to know and love him a long time ago. With all respect to his wife, I'd like to
Leave a story about his first wife Audrey. I went hunting with him in Trout Lake 20+ years ago. We had a great time. But packing for the trip Audry made a huge fuss about the 13 bean soup she said she made for him every year as part of the tradition. Well, Dick and I got to our spot up at Trout Lake, leveled the trailer and started to settle in to hunt the next morning. First thing he did was go to the refrigerator and grab that pot of 13 bean soup, exited the camper and pitched that shit out onto the ground... came back in and told me he had been doing that every year since forever. I had a close relationship with Audrey, but I will forever cherish the humor of that moment when he chunked that soup. God Bless Dick, he might very well have been the last of his kind on this earth and we all suffer for it. I look forward to meeting up with him in the hereafter and I hope he finds some time to grab a heavenly lunch with my late son Jacob Lee, who showed many similarities with the Paternal head of the family. God bless those that love him and those of us that will miss him still.

Well written, Jason. I believe I was along for that trip. I remember fondly the many, many times in the woods with my Dad. Thanks for sharing!!

This morning at roughly 2am, my grandfather Richard Harry Stilwell passed away peacefully in his sleep. My grandfather was stubborn, strong, sarcastic, funny, caring, and loving in his own way... I am sad, but I am so thankful that he is no longer in any pain. I love you, grandpa. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™
