Is survived by Karen, his wife of 19 years, daughters Nancy Memsic (John), Kathy Buckmaster (David), and a son Greg Stilwell (Christine). Was preceded in death by his son Larry and his late wife Audrey Archer Stilwell. He was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and was about to become a great-great-grandfather.
After graduation from Bremerton High School he received an appointment to Annapolis prep school. He was going to be a Navy Pilot but during flight school an unforeseen sight problem was discovered and it was necessary for him to change plans. He volunteered for the Submarine service. He spent his years in the Navy aboard a submarine during WWII, where he witnessed the signing of the Japanese surrender through a periscope on the sub. He spent most of his working years in the tire business in one capacity or another. He owned and operated several different tire businesses.
One week before his 93rd birthday his family gathered to celebrate. He had a great day eating good food and telling stories about the “The good old days”!
From stories he and his parents told, he was quite a spirited young man! Maybe that’s why under his picture in his high school yearbook it said, “QUIET PLEASE”!!
Dick loved the outdoors and spent many years camping and hunting.
He was a good, good man, and was loved so much and will be missed alot!
